The Canyon Lands, Utah, USA, in Pictures (and a few words) (Post 3) by David Keegan

Utah

The Canyon Lands

The open road. One of the main reasons I love road trips in the USA an empty road stretches for miles between the mountain ranges. A million miles from the constantly congested overcrowded roads of the UK.

Gas station along the highway

Rising up like fractured columns of some lost citadel of an ancient civilisation, an eerie expanse broadens beyond grasp in magnitude and spectacle. Winding dusty roads cut across this lost valley seeming little more than foot paths from high. Welcome to the Canyon lands of Utah. Not to be confused with the Grand Canyon which is in Nevada, the Canyon lands of Utah if anything are more spectacular as they are spread over a larger area so provide for a more dynamic and varied landscape for a road trip. Both breath-taking and profoundly moving a landscape to dwarf all.

The long day closes

  1. Landscape reminds me of that shown in the old western classic McKenna`s Gold starring the legendary Gregory Peck. Very well captured on camera.
